Jolly Phonics

Jolly Phonics is a fun way to teach children to read and write through synthetic phonics. It helps children to learn 42 letter sounds of the English language with an action for each sound. We use this in Busy Bees and Dragonflies to develop children's early phonic skills.

Jolly Phonics teaches children the five key skills for reading and writing:

  1. Learning the letter sounds
  2. Learning letter formation
  3. Blending
  4. Identifying the sounds in words (Segmenting)
  5. Tricky words
